Fourth Annual John E. McGinty Lecture in History: Elements of Presidential Leadership with Dr. Robert Dallek

Robert Dallek is the leading academic historian of the U.S. presidency. He is Professor of History Emeritus at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) and Lecturer at the Stanford in Washington campus.

Professor Dallek is a New York Times best-selling author of books on Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Reagan. Dallek’s 2007 book on Nixon and Kissinger was a 2008 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in history. His 1979 history of Franklin Roosevelt’s foreign policy was a finalist for the National Book Award and winner of the 1980 Bancroft Prize for the best book in U.S. history.

On May 26, 2020, HarperCollins will publish Professor Dallek’s latest book, How Did We Get Here? From Theodore Roosevelt to Donald Trump.

Dallek has taught at Columbia, Oxford, UCLA, Boston University, and Dartmouth. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife.
